First Look: Dilemma

Friday, Aug 20, 2010

The first picture of “The Dilemma” just appeared!

The Dilemma should offer a pleasing combo platter of what fans have come to expect from actor Vince Vaughn and director Ron Howard while provoking laughs and water-cooler debate. Namely, what would you do if you learned — as Vaughn’s character does — that the wife of your best buddy (Kevin James) might be cheating on him?

Aside from having his hometown, Chicago, as a backdrop, including an appearance by the Stanley Cup-winning Blackhawks (a bonus: “Kevin does some JumboTron dancing,” his co-star says), Vaughn has plenty of room for his usual improv riffs.

Howard offers a range of relatable emotions that ring true, similar to his Parenthood. “There is so much about Vince and Kevin’s relationship that could all unravel — they have a business together, they share a four-way friendship with Kevin’s wife (Winona Ryder) and Vince’s girlfriend (Jennifer Connelly).” Plus, a sibling cameo tradition continues: “Clint Howard has a nice turn.”

Winona is a Cheater!

Tuesday, Apr 6, 2010

Winona Ryder has joined the cast of Ron Howard’s infidelity comedy “Cheaters.”

Previously reported under the title “Your Cheating Heart,” but referred to by Deadline Hollywood as “Cheaters” (though it’s hard to tell if its just their shorthand in getting the story up or a legitimate title change) the film centers on a man who finds out his best friend’s wife is cheating, only to struggle with what to do with the knowledge. Vince Vaughn is set to play the man struggling the knowledge, while Ryder will play the cheating wife married to Kevin James. The film is based off an idea by Brian Grazer, produced by Vaughn and Imagine Entertainment and has been adapted into a script by Allan Loeb (“Wall Street 2,” “The Baster”).

While it was previously reported that this wouldn’t go in front of cameras until next year, the film is now being prepped for a spring shoot in Chicago.

Winona join Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan

Monday, Nov 9, 2009

SlashFilm has announced that Vincent Cassel, Winona Ryder, and Barbara Hershey have all joined the cast of Black Swan. The film stars Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis as rival ballet dancers at a dance school. Ryder plays Beth, who is a friend of Portman’s character and the lead in all of the school’s productions. She’s nearing the end of her career, so all of other dancers are aiming to take her place as Odette, the Swan Queen, in the next big ballet: Swan Lake. Cassel will play the handsome but sinister Yevna, director of the new stage production.

Shooting on Black Swan is scheduled to start in just a few weeks in New York City.
