We Are Movie Geek published today an interview done with Winona and Martin Landau during the “Frankenweenie” Press Conference. Check it some highlights:
What was the experience working with Tim Burton again?
WINONA RYDER: Oh, it’s always amazing. I mean, I’m trying to think of like new adjectives to use, because I, um… it, it truly is just such a special experience all every time and, and even also just being around him when just he’s one of my favorite people I think in the world that – just to be around.continue reading »
Nicole Rayburn: Winona, you are easily known as one of Tim Burton’s earliest muses. How does it feel to be working with your old friend again?
Winona Ryder: Well, it’s incredibly special. It’s just a very special film in general. I just saw it when we premiered it in Austin, and I was in tears, I was just so blown away. I expected it to be fantastic, but just it’s… He’s so special.
You know, it’s been 25 years that I’ve known him and that I’ve seen his short, and to be asked to be part of something so personal to him was such an amazing feeling, a great honor, and also just an amazing excuse to hang out with one of my favorite people in the whole world. And just to be a part of this—I don’t think I’ve ever felt so proud, really.
People just genuinely, really love this movie because it really has so much heart, and it’s completely original and unique, and it’s Tim all the way. It’s emotional too, you know?
NR: Of course. It also seems like the style really lends itself to that emotional quality. What do you think about Frankenweenie’s black and white palette?
WR: It’s really an homage to those movies that he grew up loving, the black and white—and that I grew up loving, really. Most of my favorite movies are in black and white. I think this is the second movie I’ve ever done that’s in black and white. And I’m not—it’s just my voice, but, yeah, I can’t really imagine it in color.
But I do think it’s an incredible experience. People who are used to color won’t be like, “Why… what’s going on?” It’s really, really perfect.

Pictures of Winona on set for her new movie “Homefront” in New Orleans this Monday was surfaced and WHOA! Girl looks hot with her hair extension! Winona Ryder recently worked on a film, Frankenweenie, with Beetlejuice director and Edward Scissorhands director/producer Tim Burton. This, along with news of Bravo’s forthcoming Heathers small screen reboot, means buzz has been mounting around the forty-year-old actress. There’ve even been talks of a Beetlejuice sequel.
Ryder, whose most notable recent film role was as a crazy person in Black Swan, has never not looked incredible in a movie. We’re pretty sure it would be impossible to make her look bad, as she’s proven time and time again that there’s not a time period, sanity level, or hairdo she can’t pull off.
Or maybe she’s just been fortunate enough to portray some seriously stylish people. From Heathers to Reality Bites to Lucas, click through for Winona Ryder’s best fashion moments in film.

Director Tim Burton discusses how his latest film ‘Frankenweenie’ introduces kids to the theme of death and loss, and actress Winona Ryder, who lends her voice to the movie, reveals why she thinks it is a masterpiece.
Winona Ryder has praised Tim Burton, going so far as to credit the director for her success.
From Tim Burton comes ‘Frankenweenie,‘ a heart-warming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life – with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous. A visually stunning black and white, stop motion animated film in 3D, the voice cast for ‘Frankenweenie’ includes Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, Martin Landau, Charlie Tahan, Atticus Shaffer, Robert Capron, Conchata Ferrell and Winona Ryder. Disney will release the film on October 5th in the US and October 17th in the UK. ‘Frankenweenie’ is the first animated film that Tim Burton has directed for Disney. The screenplay is by John August, based on an original idea by Tim Burton. My interview with Tim Burton for ‘Frankenweenie’ can be read here.
Speaking to Tim Burton, he said he really wanted to work with people he hadn’t worked with in a while on ‘Frankenweenie,’ people that he loved. You two in particular have a great background….
Winona Ryder: Yeah. I’ve known Tim Burton for 25 years, and I credit him with my career – I really mean that. I don’t know if….acting was sort of an accident for me, I wasn’t going on auditions and trying to be an actor. I was actually sort of discovered in San Francisco and I’d done only two movies, small parts, and I remember my parents were very picky (laughs) – because we had to drive from Northern California for ‘Beetlejuice,’ it was like 9 hours to get there, and I remember very well when I first met Tim. I was sitting, waiting to meet him and this guy came in and started talking, talking about movies and music and 25 minutes later I was like, “When is this Tim Burton guy coming?” And he was like, “That’s me!” And I was like, “OH….” (Laughs) I had no idea that a director could actually be so cool and I could easily hang out with them, you know?continue reading »
