HBO has slotted Sunday August 16 for the premiere of its miniseries Show Me A Hero, from The Wire co-creator David Simon. The six-hour mini will debut at 9 PM August 16, with the subsequent five installments airing on August 23, August 30, September 13, September 20 and September 27, at the same time.
Based on the nonfiction book by Lisa Belkin, Show Me A Hero stars Oscar Isaac as Nick Wasicsko, the youngest big-city mayor in the nation, who finds himself thrust into the center of a racial controversy when a federal court orders him to build a small number of low-income housing units in the white neighborhoods of his town, Yonkers, NY. His attempt to do so tears the city apart, paralyzes the municipal government and, ultimately, destroys his political future. Catherine Keener, Alfred Molina, Winona Ryder, LaTanya Richardson-Jackson, Bob Balaban and Jim Belushi also star. Paul Haggis directs.
Last Thursday Winona attended the San Francisco International Film Festival for a Experimenter gala premiere. She was joined by director Michael Almereyda and Alan Elms (who was a research assistant to Stanley Milgram) for a Q&A. I have added 68 pictures in our gallery, with a HUGE help of my friend Carol, and you can follow the links for the pics:
I just found two pretty portrait sessions Winona did in Sundance, one for LA Times and other for Variety.
Magnolia Pictures has acquired North American rights to Michael Almereyda’s drama “Experimenter,” starring Peter Sarsgaard and Winona Ryder.
Magnolia is planning a theatrical release later this year.
The film portrays Stanley Milgram’s experiment, in which subjects were made to believe they were administering electric shocks to others in order to test why people will cede to authority. The San Francisco International Film Festival announced Wednesday that “Experimenter” would be its closing night film on May 7.
“Experimenter” premiered in January at the Sundance Film Festival. The cast includes Jim Gaffigan, Taryn Manning, Anton Yelchin, Kellan Lutz, John Leguizamo, Anthony Edwards, Josh Hamilton, Lori Singer, Vondie Curtis-Hall and Dennis Haysbert. The film was produced by Uri Singer, Fabio Golombek, Isen Robbins and Aimee Schoof.
Winona attended last night in Utah the Awards Night Ceremony of Sundance Festival, as she was part of the jury. I have a few HQ images added, plus several additional pictures from The Experimenter premiere last weekend.
“The Experimenter” premiere in Sundance took place this Sunday (25) and Winona graced the red carpet all in black, as you can see in the pictures below:
