Valladolid will present “VOOM Portraits,” an exhibition of video portraits by the celebrated theater director and artist Robert Wilson, on view from April 2 through May 31. The exhibition is in cooperation with “VOOM Portraits – Robert Wilson”.
Wilson collaborates with his human subjects to develop costumes and settings that hark back to past works of art, history or popular culture. The exhibition at Paula Cooper Gallery will include a large portrait of Winona Ryder as Winnie, the main female character in Samuel Beckett’s Happy Days. Buried up to her neck in a mound of sand, Winona/Winnie gazes in the distance. As the sun rises and sets above her, some of Winnie’s accessories in the play (a toothbrush, a handbag and a gun) progressively become visible and invisible again. The gallery will also present an installation of snow owl portraits, which Wilson filmed in front of a vibrant polka-dotted background. [Read more...]

The most highly anticipated new Star Trek movie since Robert Wise’s 1979 Star Trek: The Motion Picture will be released on May 8, 2009 with J.J. Abrams at the helm. Not a lot is known about the plot as this is one of those most secretive productions in recent memory.
Starpulse bring us an interview with Sonita Henry, who plays the first person to ever meet James Tiberius Kirk — as the doctor who delivers him. In it, she discuss her role, some minor spoilers, and talks about Winona, as you can see in the excerpt:
Mike: I think you were in a movie before with Winona Ryder?
Sonita: Woody Allen’s Celebrity, right.Mike: She plays Spock’s mom so I’m assuming your characters don’t meet.
Sonita: No, which sucks. When they mentioned to me I was playing the doctor that delivers Kirk, all they said was, “Your scenes are with Winona.” And I went, “Sweet! I finally get to work with Winona Ryder who I’ve loved for years and years.” Then, I show up on set and it was Jennifer Morrison — which is also extremely cool because she’s very cool on House M.D. — but it was interesting they used her character’s name [Winona Kirk] and not her real name.
Mike: Well, it’s good you did not openly shun her because she wasn’t Winona Ryder.
Sonita: (Laughing) You’re not Winona Ryder, I can not possibly work with you. No eye contact please, thank you.

I just added a new theme to the gallery, and with it new pictures too, mostly old pictures of Winona’s court appearances. I was refusing to add more pictures on this episode, which I hate to see, but she was so adorable in most of it, and of course we cannot erase the past, just support her in the present.
Also, there’s some 2002 out&about pictures, as well Trek, The Informers and rare Beetlejuice behind the scenes ones. I really hope you all enjoy the updates.
Be sure to view a brand new The Informers trailer in high definition over at Moviefone.com. Note that this trailer features no nudity so it is safe viewing for fans of all ages. Screencaps are now available in the gallery.
The Informers gets a limited North American release April 24, 2009.
